Sunshine almost all year round, a warm sea until October, the desert at its best in spring and autumn: in Tunisia, every season has something to offer. Here is how to choose depending on what you want to do.

Spring (March to May): ideal for seeing everything

Mild temperatures, green countryside, uncrowded sites: the best time to combine the great visits (Carthage, El Jem, Kairouan) with the desert. Early in the season, the sea is still cool for swimming.

Summer (June to August): all about the sea

It's hot, often over 30 °C on the coast and much hotter in the south. This is high season for the beaches of Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir and Djerba. For sightseeing, set off early in the morning; avoid the Sahara in high summer.

Autumn (September to November): the best compromise

The sea stays warm in September and October, the heat eases and the desert becomes pleasant again. From October, it's also date-harvest season in the southern oases.

Winter (December to February): gentle sun and quiet visits

Days stay mild on the coast, but evenings are cool and the sea is cold. It's a very good time for cultural visits and for the Sahara, with cold desert nights: bring a warm layer.

When to book?

In high season (July, August and school holidays), book transfers and tours in advance to get the vehicle and time that suit you. For a family trip, the Family pack combines minivan transfers with child seats and a tour of the Mahdia and Monastir coast.
